Začátek

Denně strávim takovou dobu zewlováním a posloucháním hudby, čuměnim na cizí blogy, stahovánim a "zpívánim", že to není zdravý. A domnívám se, že skutečnost, že jsem plné 2 slovy DVA! měsíce chodila s Kiwim a párkrát viděla Piano, mě opravňuje hrát si na odborníka na NZ kulturu. A nechci furt jenom brát. V Kanadě sem nezahálela a protože tam nebyli skoro žádný Kanaďani, ale jenom Ausíci a Kiwiové, válí se mi v kompu dost jejich hudby. Minulej týden sem díky Serbovi objevila kapelu The Naked and Famous, která je momentálně na Zélandu velkou senzací a začala sem přemejšlet, co vlastně o NZ hudbě víme...NZ hudební scéna je na tak maličkou zemi (4 miliony obyvatel pche! To mimochodem znamená, že tam maj jenom dva miliony holek, což znamená, že to teda není moc na výběr, což znamená, že se tam těšim ještě víc!) obrovská, o rozpětí žánrů si Čechy můžou nechat jenom zdát a přesto se k nám z druhý strany zeměkoule doneslo tak maximálně jméno Ladyhawke.

Miluju hudební blogy jako Be Independent!, NewMusic.cz nebo Serbovy charts a asi ste si všimly, že občas neodolám a něco prostě obšlehnu na svůj blog, protože se chci s Váma podělit o ten krásnej pocit z dobrý písničky. Proto sem se rozhodla, že s pomocí mejch kamarádů Kiwiů dám doma vědět, co se u nich děje v hudebnim světě. A vlastně se nechci věnovat jen přítomnosti a hype kapelkám, ale taky třeba klasikám z osmdesátých let. A ano, přestože sem jinak zaujatá pro celkem úzkej okruh stylů, pokoumala sem tentokrát všecko. Hip hop, Drum´n´Base, písničkáře i reggaečko.

Je mi jasný, že většina z Vás čte můj blog kvůli něčemu jinýmu, ale připadá mi, že bych taky jednou mohla udělat něco užitečnýho. A úplně nejradši bych byla, kdyby se to pro někoho stalo i zdrojem inspirace a začal se o NZ hudbu víc zajímat, protože ty ptáci ovocný si to určitě zasloužej.

Protože jeden Kiwi se mýho nápadu chytnul přímo nadšeně, publikuju tady jeho dopis, neb je vysvětlující, informativní a smutně pravdivej.

Because there is so many bands which are hugely popular in New Zealand, but aren't very popular overseas. Its not because they're not good enough or, because people from other countries don't or won't like them, its just because no big record companies decided to financially back them with a lot of money, and pay radio stations and tv channels to play their songs, and also because they dont get any money to advertise and promote their music overseas.

Like the naked and famous should be one of the biggest bands in the world right now, put they aren't and wont be not because they're not good enough, but because they aren't signed up to a massive overseas label with a shitload of money. Like are MGMT any better than the naked and famous? No, but they're huge all over the world and the naked and famous arent, just because they're from America.

It just frustrates me that there is so many musicians and bands from other bigger countries like America and the UK that get huge amounts of air play and attention all around the world and make shitloads of money, that aren't even that good, and then there are bands from NZ which are amazingly good, and hugely popular in NZ, and a lot better than all of those bands from other bigger countries, but don't recieve any air play, recognition, attention or media coverage out side of NZ, and don't make any money either, just because they're from bigger countries, with big record companys with big bank accounts.

Fuck it though, sometimes the world just isn't fair a, anyways its their lose because they miss out on all this good music and not us, we still know that our music and countrie is the best even if other people don't think that. Its nice that other people like you around the world are starting to recognise and it enjoy it though. Eventually NZ music will get the regonition that it deserves and we will take over the world."
